About

What this is

Mythatday does two things: it lays your whole life out as a poster with one square per week, and it takes you back to the day you were born — the weather, the moon, the events, the people born the same day, the songs of that time.

It is a small free site made by one person, with no ads and no sign-up.

How the numbers are computed

Weeks: a year counts as 52 weeks; the whole weeks from your birth date to today are "lived". The default lifespan is 80 years and you can change it.

Elapsed time: counted from midnight local time on your birth date; there is no time of birth.

Sun sign: tropical zodiac; on a cusp day the page notes that the neighbouring sign is possible.

Moon phase: estimated with an astronomical formula for noon on your birth date, accurate to within half a day.

Lunar date and zodiac animal: converted with the browser's built-in Chinese calendar (Intl); hidden on the few browsers that lack it.

Weather: ERA5 reanalysis data from Open-Meteo (about a 9 km grid), a model reconstruction rather than a weather-station reading; nothing before 1940.

Privacy

No sign-up, your birthday is not stored, and there are no ads. What you enter lives only in the URL: share it if you want, otherwise it leaves no trace.

Every page loads its fonts from Google Fonts. A "that day" page asks Wikipedia and Open-Meteo directly, and YouTube only when you press play; the day pages (such as /en/day/05-20/) load portraits straight from Wikimedia. Those services see your IP address, just as if you visited them yourself.

Page views are counted with Vercel Web Analytics: no cookies, no personal data, just how often each page is viewed.
